Methods of Teaching

The other three units are coursework based enabling you to, with teacher guidance, develop your research skills and produce extended pieces of writing based on various Health and Social Care issues defined within the unit specifications. You will develop a range of transferable skills such as communication skills, planning and organisational skills. Throughout the course you will develop an understanding of health and social care within different environments and settings.

Methods & Patterns of Assessment

Three units will be examined and externally marked. The other three coursework units will be internally marked. All units are awarded distinction, merit or pass. An external moderator will confirm the grade.  Successful achievement of each unit will be combined leading to a final grade for the whole qualification which carries UCAS points.

Work Experience

In addition to classroom teaching and coursework there will also be a work experience commitment on a weekly basis during at least the first year of the course in a range of care settings.  This will contribute to your studies as well as help you make an informed career course.  It will also support your university application.

Financial Implications

You are advised to purchase an "e text book" currently at £10. An additional photocopying charge of £8 will be made to cover the cost of providing booklets of support material for your studies.
